For several years I have been intending to do some kind of television show that addresses quarter life issues and personal growth. The other day was a big step toward making that dream come as we recorded the first five episodes of my YouTube series “Twenty Something, Twenty Everything”.
Two things were very present for me during our production day.
First was the awareness that we are the directors of our own destiny. Often times we forget this and wait for someone else to come along and say “action” before we start producing the results we want in life.
If there is something you want to produce in your life, what are you waiting for? If you want to write, start writing. If you want to sing, start singing. If you want to do something creative, start creating. We often put our dreams on pause because we think we need an agent, publisher, employer or someone else to give us the green light.
But you are the director and producer of the story of your life. @ChristinHassler (Click to Tweet!)
With enthusiasm call out “action” and take a step in the direction of your dreams.
Second, I was aware of how once we take action there is what happens and then there is the context we put it in.
During our production, we shot everything in front of a green screen giving us the ability to insert whatever background we choose in post-production. This choice will influence the look and feel of each scene. Similarly, in each scene of our life, we have similar choices but we do not always see them. We forget that we all have the magical power of perception, which is our own internal green screen! There is what happens and then there is how we choose to see it. We all have the ability to color the story our life. If we choose to project positivity and acceptance on our own internal green screen, the scenes of our life will look and feel a lot difference than if we project judgment and negativity. What are you projecting onto your green screen? Could it be time to edit the background?
Remember you are the writer, director, producer and editor of the story of you.
Each day you are the one calling the shots in terms of how you react and respond on the set of your life. You are responsible for when to say action and when to say cut. You are able to edit the experience of your life based on how you perceive it. Make it a 5-star experience.
That’s a wrap,
Christine
P.S. I have a new podcast where I coach people LIVE on the air. Head over to Over it and On With It and listen in for inspiration and action steps.
Christine Hassler has broken down the complex and overwhelming experience of recovering from disappointment into a step-by-step treatment plan in her new book Expectation Hangover. This book reveals the formula for how to process disappointment on the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual levels to immediately ease suffering. Instead of wallowing in regret, self-recrimination, or anger, we can see these experiences as catalysts for profound transformation and doorways that open to possibility. You can find more info on her website, and follow her on Twitter and FB.
