“Imagine one day you go for a walk, and you meet Jesus enjoying a cup of coffee in this little village we’re in. What would you think about Him?” said the Soul Mechanic.
I thought about it for a moment, but I didn’t say anything. I wasn’t sure what to answer. If I had the courage to overcome my people anxiety, I thought to myself, I would sit down at His table or at his feet, hug Him like I never hugged anyone in my life, and probably in tears of joy tell Him how much I love Him. I would think He is the child of God, and I am grateful for our conversation. “I don’t know,” I said in the end.
“You came to Hawaii to heal your heart after your breakup, to find love, and understand more about your relationships. Your best thinking got you to where you are: depressed, and in terrible emotional pain. Your thinking was the problem, but obviously is not part of the solution” said the Soul Mechanic.

“I will give you an ancient secret to open the door to love and inner peace, to holy friendships and meaningful relationships. If you live what I’m about to tell you, every moment of frustration, every impulse of anger, every shadow of past hurt will vanish from your mind. Every interaction with another human being will become a spark of Heaven in your life. But you must live what I teach you, and bring this invaluable grain of wisdom in all your relationships.”
“I promise,” I said. During the past years, I had fallen through the darkest pit of emotional pain. I’ve had enough of the social anxiety, the fear of talking to strangers, the agony of leaving miserable relationships, the self-hatred for being too shy all my life.
“In Eastern traditions, people greet each other with Namaste, which means ‘the Divine in me greets the Divine in you.’ In our spiritual tradition, people say to each other when they meet ‘The Christ within me salutes the Christ within you.’ You can see every person in two ways: through the dark eyes of judgment, or through the bright eyes of Love. Your decision for the glass you look through decides the experience of your relationships. This decision is up to you.”
This is the secret: whenever you meet somebody, and in every moment of every relationship, think about the other as you would think about Christ.
“Look upon others as you would look upon Christ. Talk to others as you would talk to Christ. Remember every human being is a holy child God loves without conditions, and look upon them as you would look upon Christ. “
