The foundation of a good relationship with intentions and goals is keeping in mind that the primary aim of setting and working toward them is to feel the way you want to feel.
The external things we want to have, do, and experience are secondary goals, all of which get back to the whole cosmic point: experiencing your core desired feelings.
Don’t criticize what you want.
When resistance is gone, the demons are gone.

Simplicity or grandeur. Quiet or bold. As long as what you’re going after conjures your most desired feelings and is a gratifying process, then you’re on track with your inner truth.
“Soulful” intentions and goals aren’t about austerity or wanting less. You don’t need to aim to save the planet or sell your worldly possessions to be in your Soul zone. But, hey, if downsizing makes you feel expanded, then do it!
And conversely, going after mogul-level status or fame might not be any less Soulful for you than wanting to rescue people or start a charity. If that’s what floats your boat, then climb in.
There’s also a point to be made here about judging other people’s goals. I’m working on this one myself in terms of compassion and tolerance. Here’s what I figure: You just never can know the machinations of someone else’s Soul—their karma, their dharma, their story. Maybe they’re learning precisely what they need to learn in this lifetime to become self-actualized; maybe they’re struggling to get free; maybe they’re an enlightened being who’s come to stir shit up so we can learn compassion. Life only knows.
Back to you…
If you want enlightenment and a BMW, they’re yours for the wanting.
A lover who ravishes you. Your own space to make art. A secure job. An Academy Award. A new bike. Tuition paid for. Economical housing. To revolutionize health care. Organic food. A year off to travel and a true friend to take the trip with you. A reliable car. A pet. A million bucks, net. Hardwood floors. Whiter teeth. To forgive. To lead a nation. To leave the house every day feeling like you have something to give the world.
Want what feels good to want.
