One of the things that continues to amaze me about life is when we think we have everything figured out and then we learn something new or suddenly see something in a different perspective and everything shifts again…do you ever get that?
Something that was already part of your life for so long, may become second nature and you think you are completely crushing it, and then you hear a new perspective or way it is said and BOOM…you suddenly get an even clearer focus on the idea.
I’ll give you an example. I have been coaching people in a number of forms for over a decade now and I live my life with the exact same principles every day. I am also a huge believer in positive thinking, energy and emotions and how we need to be mindful and learn to control our emotions.
I also surround myself with like minded people who love their Yoga, meditation, energy work and clean eating…living in a place like Boulder, is pretty easy to find communities like that too! I spend a lot of time working on staying in a positive frame of mind and letting those things go that don’t add a positive energy to my life.
Recently I was in California at a coaching clinic and I was pretty excited to attend. The reason why I chose this one, was because the person hosting spoke in a language that resonated with me and the course brochure seemed like it could have been written by me. So naturally it was a fit for me and I looked forward to hooking up with her and the other attendees.
Within a few hours of getting there she mentioned one thing…that just blew me away. Not because it was something new, but she just used the same words that I had been using for a long time, but had put them in a much simpler structure.
We hadn’t even gotten the emotional work in yet and I was already nearly crying…not because I was sad, but just because the understanding and shift in perspective was so profound and humbling. This is one of the reasons I always like to go to events and training sessions a number of times a year. Normally I am the one teaching groups, but I think it is so important to keep searching and expanding our knowledge.
When we do that we really challenge ourselves and our beliefs and when we do this, we expand our viewpoint, our learning, our knowledge and grow as individuals. When we do this we change our results in life too.
So I want to share some lessons with you and focus right now on your life circumstances, your thoughts and your results. We are going within to shift our results in life.
So here are some awesome tips for you if you want to shift your results in life.
Your Life Circumstances – So here you are wanting to earn more money in the job you’re working in and you’re really trying hard to get that promotion, but you don’t get the promotion.
Your Thoughts – Now following those circumstances we have a choice of our thoughts. We can choose a thought pattern that goes like this…I just don’t have the experience or skills. Those other people are so lucky as they went to good schools, are so smart and they get on with managers so much better than me. These negative thought patterns lead you down a path of thinking you’re not good enough, not deserving and you’re destined to stay stuck
Your Feelings – When we have followed that negative thought process how do you think we’ll feel? Pretty horrible right? Emotionally we’ll be drained and in a pretty negative and depressed state. It is a low energy state
Your Actions – When we are in that negative feeling place I think you can pretty much guess what your actions would be like. I can tell you right now, they will not be infused with a positive energy. You’ll feel like you just want to give up and your effort and output will just drop off…in essence you will do nothing
The Results – With our actions being so flat and neutral, our results will match those actions. Our results will suffer! The problem is that we are always told that when our results are not what we want we need to work harder and put in more effort but…that is ALL wrong!
You see by working harder and putting in more effort, or trying to change our circumstances are futile exercises and just places us in a vicious cycle of feeling even worse and getting the same results.
The magic happens when we first go within! @hayleyhobson (Click to Tweet!)
We look at our circumstance and notice our thoughts. So if you are feeling a little depressed, down, anxious and unworthy, then you know the only way to change that is to go to your thoughts.
Accept that those old thoughts were negative and that is OK. But remember we have a choice. We now choose thoughts that match the FEELING we want. When we choose a different thought that empowers us and shifts our feelings to something that is a lot more aligned with what we want to feel and is uplifting, then our actions will be different and therefore so will our results.
You see the power is within, not outside of us. If you want to change your life results, you need to go within and start working on your thoughts. Your thoughts create your feelings. Your feelings determine the way you act. The way you act defines your results.
Try it and let me know how it goes. I can assure you it will shift your perspective and approach to your life.
