People from all over the world call me with physical and emotional ailments, asking me to find the root or cause of their issues and what they need to do to help support their bodies to return to a place of balance.
When I begin a session with a client, I assume the very best and that all is good with the person I am working with. When I say, “all is good,” I mean that I assume everything is functioning as best as it can, given how the client is currently caring for him/herself. I never look at someone as sick, ill, or broken.
Our bodies are incredibly resilient, patient, and ever so forgiving.
I find that people seem to jump into a pretty fearful mentality quickly when it comes to their body and health.
I love to remind people that when health concerns develop, our bodies have been speaking to us for quite some time, and it’s fair to assume that we have simply forgotten to listen, so our bodies begin to speak a little bit louder over time to get our attention.
If we have a Porsche and take care of it like we would a VW, the car most likely will have some issues. Is there something wrong with the car or something wrong with the way it was cared for? We often like to pretend that something is wrong with the car, when odds are that the car is functioning as best as it can with how it’s been cared for.
I invite you to look at your body and health in this way.
How are you caring for yourself? It is so easy to flip into a place of feeling like a victim—like something is happening TO us when it comes to our physical health. The next time you have a physical ailment, please take a breath and remember to ask yourself how you have been taking care of yourself.
Have you been remembering to make yourself a priority? Have you been properly hydrating? Eating your vegetables? Eating your fruits? Have you been getting enough rest? Have you been exercising? I can hear a few giggles here and there as if this is some airy-fairy new-age mumbo-jumbo. I have been in practice for over twenty years, and at least 80% of clients that come to me simply don’t know how to take care of their bodies. Once they learn and are consistent with positive habits, their bodies heal. This is far from airy-fairy. This is a basic understanding of the law of cause and effect.
Imagine how your car would run if you got the oil checked every other year, put leaded gas into an unleaded tank, and never flushed the transmission fluid. Do you think your car would run optimally? When your car wouldn’t perform, would you get upset at it and think it had failed you, or would you step back and ask if you had remembered to take care of it?
When we buy a car, at least we are given a manual of how to properly care for it. Our bodies hold the manuals of what they need. We need to remember to learn to read and listen to them so we can care for them properly. I always assume people simply don’t know how to read their bodies, and that is why they are coming to me. I read their bodies for them. I love watching clients walk away in complete confidence, knowing how to take care of the machine they live in! 🙂

We must be gentle with ourselves and remind ourselves how powerful our actions (and lack of actions) really are.
A great affirmation to start one’s day with is, “I am ready, willing, and able to commit to taking full responsibility for my health and well being.”
How can you take better care of yourself starting today? Take a deep breath and ask yourself that simple question. Listen for the answer. Follow through with positive action. Pause in the morning before you start your day, ask this simple question, take positive action, and notice how your body starts to feel over time.
“How can I take better care of myself today?”
What is your body saying to you? Please remember to listen to what your body says and follow this with positive action.
This morning as I ask the question, “How can I take better care of myself today?” my body says, “Please slow down today and spend some time in the garden.” Looks like I will be doing a little weeding this afternoon! What will you be doing?
